02 Aug Tamanaah in trouble for endorsing gambling
The actress Tamanaah has landed in trouble once again, and this time around, it was for endorsing online gambling. The star, along with Indian skipper Virat Kohli, is a brand ambassador to the Mobile Premier League, an online game site.
A Chennai-based lawyer has filed a public interest litigation petition in the High Court of Madras stating that gambling is a criminal offence, and that it has also led to suicide among people. It stated that such online gaming sites should be shut down and that brand ambassadors should be arrested and prosecuted. He continued that youths waste their hard-earned money on these games and then go on raising money at exorbitant interest rates and ultimately go on committing crimes to collect funds to take part in gambling. Some of them even move ahead to end their lives.
He also stated in the petition that these games are more dangerous than the game of the blue whale, since the former also places a financial burden on the family. It was only a few days ago that actor Shaam was arrested at his Nungambakkam residence for gambling with many others at his home. – Adapted from Indiaglitz
