28 Jun Nike Kobe 5 Protro stars in the champions league-theme “Big Stage” color scheme
Following the shocking death of Kobe Bryant in January, the existence of his iconic Nike Basketball brand has been veiled in secrecy. Today, the tale of the myth of the Los Angeles Lakers and the potential Basketball Hall of Famer’s sneakers is the unveiling of the “Big Level” Kobe 5 Protro.
Many devoted supporters of Mamba called for Adidas to start selling his iconic sneakers in homage, although some claimed that the brand would be held out of consideration. On a merchandise point of view, all that has been announced is the Mamba Rage — a budget-friendly take-down shoe — though the “Lakers” colorway was even briefly previewed until it was temporarily shelved earlier in the year.
A mixture of the Kobe 5 “Major Stage Return” and Bryant’s “Parade” PE, the “Major Stage” is all about the glory of the championship. Presented in a winning white, black and gold paint scheme, the “Big Step” uses dramatic “Parade” print in black instead of PE blue on the left side of the foot on the right side of the medial leg, and changes the script of smooth tonal “Big Step” hits on the left side of the medial foot.
Tongues and laces follow the Yin-and-Yang theme of contrasting black / white (left) and white / black (right) styles. Swooshes and boots, though, are identical around all legs in a bright golden shade. Ultimately, the EVA midsole completes the look with a 50/50 black and white blend that fits the upper patterns and provides twice as much Zoom Air as the initial Kobe for high-quality results.
While the Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Large Step” has been reported and expected for months, it has finally reached stores like Nice Kicks for the first time ever with an early release date of July 1. If it is finally issued, the retail price would be USD $180. – Adapted from Hypebeast
