The quest for Naya Rivera came to a disastrous end. The actress was reported dead by the authorities on Monday, 13 July, five days after she drowned in California bay.
It report came only a few hours after the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a corpse had been discovered in Lake Piru. At a news conference, Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said that the body they are “confident” is Rivera’s, was found floating on the shore of the lake by workers searching by boat early Monday morning.
“Based on the position where the body was discovered, the physical characteristics of the victim, the body’s clothes discovered and the physical state of the corpse, as well as the absence of any other individual recorded in the region, we are sure that the body we found is that of Naya Rivera,” Ayub said.
The examination will be done to ascertain the cause of death and a definitive diagnosis of Rivera ‘s remains will be conducted via dental records. The depth of the water in which Rivera’s corpse was found is between 35 and 60 foot thick. The surface of the lake is lined with a thick brush and plants.
