04 Jul More than five million people attempted to buy the Dior x Air Jordan 1 OGs
Now that the year’s raffle is over, stats for the highly coveted Dior x Air Jordan 1 OGs are launching. According to WWD, for a chance to win either a pair of the collaborative J1s in high-top or low-top form over five million people participated. There were only 8,000 open to the public.
The first release of the Dior x Air Jordan 1 OG was launched on June 25th at a dedicated microsite where interested parties could enter for an opportunity to buy. The website allowed the customer to choose between the high-top or low-top model, in their preferred size and in a convenient location to buy. Users started to access the web at early morning EDT and just a few hours later began to note the web had closed its registration.
Christian Dior Couture’s president and chief executive Pietro Beccari told WWD that the selection of the public pairs was completed in nine hours, and the winners were informed on July 2. Beccari also revealed that while 8,000 pairs were made available to the public for purchase, 5,000 pairs were also created for Dior ‘s top customers and specifically approached with an invitation to buy. The Dior x Air Jordan 1 OG High and Low pairs retailed for $2,200 USD and $2,000 USD respectively but both are now more than five times their initial size on the black market. – Adapted from Hypebeast
