08 Oct “Call me if you see potholes” – Federal Territories Minister provides phone number to resolve issues within 24 hours
Federal Territories Minister Shahidan Kassim has given out his phone number so that the public can alert him of potholes in Kuala Lumpur
According to Malay Mail, the minister acknowledged the hazardous conditions of the roads in the city and provided his number so residents may file a direct complaint.
“We are prepared. The public can contact me at +6019-4545111; my deputy Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias at +6019-6524444; or KL mayor Datuk Seri Mahadi Che Ngah at +6016-2068883,” he told the Dewan Rakyat during his ministry’s wind-up speech on the 12th Malaysia Plan debate on Thursday, 7 October.
According to Shahidan, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has always been monitoring road conditions in Kuala Lumpur
He said the city hall has been keeping tabs of the main roads, highways, development projects, and also highly concentrated areas in the city, to make sure the road surfaces are paved and maintained.
“After having discussion with DBKL and based on the latest order issued, any complaint or information must be acted upon immediately within 24 hours,” he said.
Besides residents, he added that those visiting KL may also lodge a report if they come across a pothole. “We will take action within 24 hours. We want to be the best for Malaysia.”
The minister was responding to Batu member of Parliament (MP) P Prabakaran’s query on the poor road conditions and rising number of potholes in the capital
After the announcement, Prabakaran applauded Shahidan for giving out a phone number for people to contact directly for immediate action.
