05 Sep 13 cops, 2 firefighters, and an army commando are among 62 people arrested for violating SOPs by partying at a disco
On 4 September, a total of 18 civil servants including 16 uniformed personnel from the police, fire and rescue department, and the army were detained after a raid at an entertainment outlet in Puchong.
The 18 were part of the 62 people in total who were detained by police following the raid.
Serdang district police chief ACP A A Anbalagan said that the 1.40am raid on Saturday night was conducted at the entertainment outlet, which was found to be dark with loud music playing.
“At the time, the customers were drinking alcohol,” he was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.
Officers from Selangor police’s integrity and standards compliance department (JIPS) were part of the raid that was carried out by the Selangor Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

“62 compounds were issued and investigations were conducted in accordance with Section 269 of the Penal Code, Section 6 of the Entertainment and Entertainment Venues Enactment 1955, Entertainment and Entertainment Venues (Selangor) Regulations 1966, Section 76 of the Excise Act 1976,” he said.
Anbalagan added the youngest person inspected during the raid was 17-year-old.
The compound notices were issued at RM5,000 each for breaching COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs). The total fine came up to RM310,000.
Among the items seized were liquor bottles, beer cartons, a deejay deck, speakers, and audio equipment.
Meanwhile, of the 18 civil servants, there was one corporal, six lance corporal, and six constables including a woman traffic constable
According to a Free Malaysia Today report, they are in various units in different stations.
The report, while citing an unnamed source, also said that the army commando with the rank of sergeant is an escort for a top army officer at the defence ministry.
All of them are expected to be suspended pending an investigation by their respective departments. – Adapted from Says
